Enable Faster PDF's
Selecting Transparency Options

If you use a third party program like bluebeam to create PDF files from your cad drawings you have the option to enable a feature called "Line Merge", which is the term they use for transparency effects. Other PDF distillers may have a different term for transparency.

In either case, enabling this feature will result in very long processing times for Ghostscript versions higher than 8.14. Earlier versions of Ghostscript do not support transparency, so the files will process more quickly, however the end result might not be pleasing.

Here are some possible solutions and easy to implement work-arounds:
• Disable the transparency features in your PDF files. In most cases, you can achieve the same effect by controlling the order of the layers in the drawing. Personally, I think this is the best solution.
• Don't make the adjustment, but be aware that turnaround times will be longer and there could be additional processing fees.
• Request that we process your files with Ghostscript 8.14 or earlier. Again with the awareness that the transparency option being used may not print as it appears on your computer monitor.
